Truex is the local unsung hero around these parts. He grew up racing at Wall Speedway which is about 30 minutes away and New Egypt speedway, a dirt track which is a bit further south Jersey.
NASCAR isn't as big around these parts as it is in the southern states, but it will be a lot bigger when they get the track built in Staten Island, NY.
His populartity started to grow once he signed with DEI. Got even bigger when he started winning Busch races last year. Grew even more when he won the Busch championship. Once Truex gets into the Cup league and winning races, his popularity is gonna go through the roof since we haven't really had a big name Cup racer from New Jersey in a long time! Actually don't even know if there's been any at all. Truex will do this area proud!
oh and by the way, I hate the Braves, so there's even more rivalry. Go Mets! They blew it at the end in their first game, but they'll be a team to reckon with this year!
