Well, once again we had someone try to break the so-far unbreakable 8 week streak and once again it could not be done. Tooz had 8 weeks in the Nationwide series going into Richmond and got burned after picking Jeff Burton. Burton finished way back in 31st place after getting caught up in a wreck.
However, all is not lost in finding someone to break the streak. JT Motorsports was able to reach the 8 week mark after picking Matt Kenseth. JT and racingfan had the 2nd longest Nationwide streaks but racingfan8 did not make picks this week. This gave JT the lone longest streak and 48 points in the Nationwide segment. Now JT will become the next person to try and break the streak next week at Darlington. Can he do it where many have failed?
Despite Tooz not breaking the record, the Nationwide segment was pretty good to everyone else. Out of 17 members, 15 picked a top 10 driver. 3 of them picked race winner Kyle Busch.
Well last week Tooz took a big lead in the standings, but that lead may be short lived. Our standings leader failed to pick a top 10 driver in both the Cup and Nationwide races this week so he didn't earn any points.
Menawhile, TCB Racing, who moved up to 2nd place last week, had a big week by extendings his Nationwide streak to 6 weeks and also extended his Cup streak to 7 weeks after picking Tony Stewart. That gave him a nice total of 78 points for the week. He is now just 7 points behind and breathing down Tooz's neck. If he extends either one of his streaks next week he should take the standings lead.
We'll be looking at two record streaks next week. TCB Racing will try to tie the all-time Cup streak and JT Motorsports will be looking to break the 8 week streak as he tried to take his Nationwide streak to 9 weeks. He had the 2nd most points for the week with 63.
Only 6 members were able to extend their Cup streak this week since a lot were burned by Jimmie Johnson. It's been a rough couple of weeks for Cup streaks. Only 2 members picked race winner Kyle Busch.
