If you go back and look at Dale Sr."s career you'll find that at Jeff Gordon's present age the Intimidator had just 11 Nascar victories. Wonder what nickname Jeff should have? " The Dominater" ? Sounds about right.

Dale Earnhardt started his carreer a lot later than Gordon did. Jeff Gordon also had Hendrick MotorSports and all the resources to help a young driver start out. It took awhile before earnhardt eventually hooked up with Childress and started RCR. It was a different time back then, much tougher to get started in racing than it is today.
I'm not knocking Gordon's stats, they are impressive, however he'll never make 7 championships.
He's a great driver, has great talent, and is the biggest flamer on the circuit today. Oops, did I say that last part?
it is much harder to win now than it was then, when Sr was racing before the "modern" era only 4 or 5 drivers had a shot at winning a race. Now there are 15 to 20 drivers with a real shot at winning a race. Gordon dominated NASCAR much like Tiger Woods did the PGA
It does not matter when Sr got started , bottom line is he has 5 more wins than Gordon while doing it in twice as many yrs.
And the Flamer comment, of all people to say anything about a drivers character, a SR fan? Lets face it he was known for cheating, dirty racing not mention off the track being a jerk, a cruddy father and a cruddy husband. So lets be careful when we cast stones. Sr would never make it today, Stewart get on probation for thinking about hitting another car, how would NASCAR react now to Sr crashing his way to the front?

WTF??? I don't know what you're smoking over there but it must be pretty good. Let's just take the 80's when Earnhardt won most of his championships.
We had Cale Yarbrough, Darrell Waltrip, Richard Petty, Bobbt Allison, Harry Gant, Rim Richmond, Dave Marcis, Terry Labonte, Ricky Rudd, Bill Elliott, Neil Bonnett, Tim Richmond, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, plus many others. Oh, but none of those guys had a shot at winning. Give me a break. These days not too many drivers have that much shot at winning, 15 to 20 is stretching it, I'd say around 10 drivers on a normal basis.
And please, Sr. wouldnt make it today? There are lots of guys out there who are dirty racers. Yeah, Sr. was someone you didnt mess around with. He was dirty at times, and thats why people loved him. You either were a hard ass guy who wouldnt take crap from anyone, or you can go the fruity flamer route. Please, I always see Gordon and Johnson running around in the pre show, laughing, grabbing each other. We burtst out laughing not too long ago when it was either Gordon or Johnson in victory lane, and it looked the other one snuck up behind him and grabbed his ass. Couple of fruit cakes.
Never win 7 Championships? At last count he had 4 in the bank. Jeff could race 15-20 more years if he wanted. That seems like plenty of time to win 3 more Championship!! Remember he's got a Hendrick engine and great driving skills. I know how badly Earnhardt fans don't want to see it but it seems a very real reality. Also just so the records straight, Gordon fans want 4 more championships so they won't be tied with anyone!! It sure is crazy here at Dega! How bout Blaney!! Peace

Lets get the facts straight those guys were never in their prime at the same time...
When SR won his 2nd title in 1986, Petty, Pearson, Cale were ALL washed up.
Gants? 18 carreer wins, Neil Bonnett? 18 career wins, Tim Richmond? 13, Dave Marcis? 5....that has to be a joke. Tony Stewart alone has 19 more than ALL or those guys, heck Newman and Busch have 12 and 11.
Stewart, Busch, Newman, Kenseth, Johnson, JR and Biffle will all have more than most of the guys you mentioned.
Yeah, by '86 those 3 drivers you mentioned were done with, they were still in their prime in the early 80's when Earnhardt won his first championship in 1980.
We're not talking entire career races won by those other drivers, we're talking about what they put up in those seasons. Tim Richmond won 7 races in 1986, not too shabby. Earnhardt won 5, waltrip won 3 and had 21 top 5s. In 86' Waltrip, Rudd and Elliott were in their prime. There were 13 different winners that year. In 1990 there were 14 winners. In 95, 97 and 98 when Gordon won his championships there were only 11 winners. So I don't know what the hell you're talking about when you're saying only 5 or 6 drivers had a goot shot of winning when Earnhardt won his championships.
All thats true, but lets keep in mind Gordon won either 10 0r 13 races that year. Its not surprising that there was only 11 winners. Not as many race per season as now either. Don't get me wrong Dale was good, but let's face the facts. Gordon's better! Met Sr. E and he was a piece of work. Really don't have anything against tiny e. (except the fruit don't fall far from the tree.) I think everyone would be happy if they finished 1-2 this weekend.

the Gordon Fans are at it again twisting facts. How can you talk about SR. not having competition when he won? and then say that Gordon had guys like the likes of Stewart, Newman, Jr., Johnson, Busch, Kahne, Edwards, Kenseth, Biffle, but the facts are this........................NONE of those guys were around when the rainbow boy won his first three!!!
since these guys have come up (all good racers) i haven't seen Gordon dominate anything except his divorce proceedings.
No they weren't but your precious Sr E. was!!!!LMFAO! I believe Mr. Gordon still took 3 Championships while daddy e was around. Also if you'll check the record tiny e has NEVER finished ahead of Mr.Gordon in the points!!! Never!!! How are those twisted facts?

Speed Demon, i can see you are just like a couple of other Gordon fans i can think of..............you twist FACTS to the way you want to remember them and not the way they actually are.
2003 final Winston Cup standings:
1 - Matt Kenseth
2 - Jimmie Johnson
3 - Dale Earnhardt Jr.
4 - Jeff Gordon
also, i seem to remember Sr. winning it all in '93 and '94.........wasn't Gordon around then?
you talk about others needing to get their facts straight............take your own advice. go ahead, look it up and let me know when you're ready to eat your previous statement.
Opps, I stand corrected! Forgot about that year. My bad. I guess it's true, every blind squirrel does get an acorn every now and again. Congrats goes out to tiny e on his 1 year of beating Gordon. I'll admt I was wrong. It happens. Good luck everyone at Dega.

You really can't compare the two. It's the old Ruth vs. Aaron vs. Bonds. Different era's of athletes. If they both started at the same time then you can agure their stat's. SR. was in the 80's and was the domiant star of the decade then Gordon in the 90's. It's like saying Jordan is better than Magic. They were both great during their prime. I loved watching SR race, he was my favorite racer, doing everything and anything to win.
