In 1949 when Harold Brasington and a few friends started the grading for Darlington Motor Speedway the last landowner to sell land backed out. The work moved forward except turn 3 and 4 had be changed. The landowner owned had a minnow pond and decided to keep it opporating. The turns remain asymmetricial to this day. The pond remains as well near a resevred RV parking area.

yeh, Fox did a segment on this last year........something about there was plans to dry the pond and put in more RV spots.........i guess that got put on hold to see if Darlington will stay on the circuit.
