I know we had this blow out just a week or so ago but I was doing some thinking on the matter of the weekly all-star picks. I'm not saying change the format for this year, but I had and idea. Actually I like the idea of using them up to the chase and then making them null and void. My idea however was, what if for the chase the All-star picks are reset, and for the chase the only drivers elligible to be used would be those who are in the chase itself.
We'll take your idea into consideration. There may be some change with the use of all star picks in regards to the chase next year. I originally didn't think they should be used in the chase, make things a little bit harder. However, they add a bit of strategy to a person's picks as well. We'll see what happens this year during the chase.
After consideration, I don't think someone can run off with the win even if they have a number of good superstar picks left. If you take a look back at the races this year, only 4 out of the 11 races were won with the winner picking the winner of the race as the superstar. Four races were won picking someone in the top 5, and two races were one with picks in the top 15 and top 20. Nascar Fan Racing won her race without even picking any superstars.
True, if you pick the winner of the race as your superstar, you'll probably at least earn a top 5 or top 10. However, what are the odds are that you'll pick the winner? Just because a driver does good on a track does not guarantee they'll finish good in a race, anything can happen as we all know.
It will take all 5 of your picks to give you a good finish, not just your superstar. So far only the top 2 or 3 teams have run off ahead in the standings, everyone else is pretty close together. It's going to be very interesting once the chase happens, and all those teams are brought within 5 points of each other.
