I'm toying with the idea of "Possibly" organizing a league get-together at a racetrack sometime in 2006. Many tour companies have group discounts available and we could take advantage of it if we could get a large group together.
However, first we would have to figure out which race we would go to. Most of the league lives on the eastern side of the USA so think it would be better to have a track around there. A few tracks I have in mind are Lowes, Richmond, Martinsville, Darlington, Dover, Pocono or Atlanta. I'm going to Pocono or Dover this year, so I'm leaning more toward Lowes, Richmond, Martinsville or Darlington. Atlanta would be a little more for me personally to travel, but I'd be willing.
The next thing we need to do is talk numbers. Besides yourself, how many friends and family would you be bringing? Remember, the more people we can get, the bigger the discount probably.
I think it would be great for league members to meet each other... of course our opinion could change upon meeting them, lol. Well think it over and let me know.
Im sure youre talking about flying there.......if thats the case, Atlanta should be cheaper and quicker than Lowes or Richmond..........its more a central hub, and you would fly there first anyways right?
Atlanta would be the cheapest due to the fact that every airline flys there. Delta has a hub there and would be the logical choice to take to Atl. We (Continental) have planes leaving from Newark every other hour to Atlanta and they aren't that full. I'm not crazy about flying but would love to goto a racing weekend with you guys.
Yes, I suppose Atlanta would be the best place to go for people to fly in. I'm not that crazy for flying, but maybe I would if it was to be Atlanta. I don't think it would be that expensive for Atlanta either. I think the October race would be the better one to go to since the March one is too early in the season. That's of course if the schedule remains the same next year, which I believe it is.
March is too early and Oct is too late for me, football season. Lou, I'll drive with you to Atlanta its only about a 8-10 hour ride for us from Jersey. If not Atlanta I would love to do a night Race at Richmond, always good racing there.
The night race in Richmond wouldnt be bad. Not sure about the airport there for other members but I'm sure they must have one. That was just a couple weeks ago, so it would be Mid May.
I've never been to Richmond, so I wouldnt mind going. Or you have Darlington the week before, too.
Darlington, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Richmond are all great choices........usually good races at those tracks and they generally don't sell out too quickly. Darlington should be the only one with airline problems (fly into Columbia, SC then 2.5 hour drive?)
I guess the next question would be which track is most centered around the teams willing to go.........then pick the fall or spring race by vote?
Well most of the teams are all pretty spread out except Speed Demon's posse in Georgia. We have guys from Maine down to Florida. We should probably find out which people would want to go to a race somewhere on the east coast. After we see who is interested, we'll then be able to narrow it down somewhat. So far it's me of course in NJ... possibly Stephen (Zipperhead, also in NJ).. maybe Speed Demon in GA.
Atlanta? Damn it man. Been there at least 40 times!! Richmond, Martinsville Darlington. Dega sucks. Atlanta I have blocks but there're always spoke for. That would be cheap for me though. Charlotte's nice. Be nice to pull a coup for Bristol, but don't see that happening.

A few years ago the wife and i took the kids to disney(FLA), endedup buying a time share. the next the girls took the kids to the beach, and the men went to the track, daytona, and stayed till after dark. We saw arca Q's, busch practice and shootout practice. That is as close to a race as I've ever been, so the idea of members hooking up sounds good to me. But from Pittsburgh, any race is a roadtrip. Whatever is decided, i would do my best to try and make it there.
