What if we had the chase last year?

Just for the heck of it I calculated what would have happened last year had we run the chase format. After Richmond the league leader, JJR would have received 5050 points. The other teams in the top 10 would all go down in 5 point increments. I just went by the teams in the top 10 after richmond, I don't know if the teams in 11th and below were within 400 points of the leader at the time.

Jerry Jones would still have won the championship but just barely... 2 points over Syracuse Alpine Racing.

Here's what the real top 10 was:

1st  Jerry Jones Racing   1965 pts

2nd Intimidator Racing    -209

3rd Green Flag Racing    -222

4th Ron Racing             -247

5th  Syracuse Alpine Racing   -332

6th  Dodge Boys Racing  -386

7th Bump And Go Racing  -437

8th  June Bug Racing  -479

9th  Trapt Racing   -516

10th Team Echo MotorSports  -534

And here is what the top 10 would have looked like using the chase format and last year's points system:

1st  Jerry Jones Racing    5650

2nd  Syracuse Alpine Racing  -2

3rd  Ron Racing                   -19

4th Dodge Boys Racing        -57

5th Intimidator Racing         -59

6th Bump And Go Racing    -60

7th Green Flag Racing      -157

8th Team Echo MS           -204

9th Trapt Racing             -231

10th Zipperhead Racing    -239

That last race would've been a real nail-biter...

You nearly finished in the top 10 for real anyway, you were 11th.

You were 7th after the fall Richmond race but fell out soon afterwards.

interesting, i'll give you that, but a question.

how would i have slipped out of the top ten? once in Chase format, those teams are locked into the top ten correct? Mayfield stayed in the Top Ten eventhough I'm sure under old formats, Mcmurray would have passed him.

Because when the chase rolled around you were 15th after Richmond, so you wouldn't have made it. I don't know if you were within 400 points or not, I'm just going by those in the top 10 at the time.

You didn't get into the top 10 until the Talladega race in October.
