I'm interested to see what kind of penalties NASCAR will hand out on this one. Their new policy is let the drivers go at it on the track, so everyone will be waiting to see how far they'll let it go.
Parking his @ss for a race is too easy and doesn't really fit the crime or send a good messageso to say. Pemberton's quote was.. "Boys, have at it." So Helton and the boys need to be careful here. I would like to see heavy slaps on driver points and fine, half of the same for owner points and dough. THEN..... ROUSH needs to do the right thing and remove him for one race.
He has had issues with many as Tooz mentioned above and needs to chill the heck out. Maybe he watches a bit too much Madhouse on THC and thinks he is one of the Myers boys or Junior Miller.
I would have mentioned roid rage but people wore that out in 08-09.

I don't see why Carl should be suspended. Drivers take each other out on purpose all of the time (Denny Hamlin even admitted he would do it at Homestead and did). Just because his car ended up on it's roof doesn't make it any different than any other time this has happened.
i have to agree with steven . whats big deal ? how many people has Brad wrecked with his stupidity ? he started it as always and everyone gets mad cuz Carl retaliated ! Helton said let them police themselves and thats the way it should be. if you wreck me then you are going to be wrecked. plain and simple. we see this all the time but people seem to wanna dislike Carl !
I'm with Steve and Leon on this one. Unless we take the way back machine and just grab a wrench or something and finish it after the race. How un PC of me Opps!
Carl doesn't deserve any more penalty then Denny Hamlin got at Homestead... which was a lap. Carl was penalized more than one lap, so he shouldn't get any further penalty.
I will be probation.

He does need to sit a race.........thats about 150 pt. penalty give or take what he would have finished.
Brad and others have wrecked people....but alot of times it is either misfortune or lack of talent.....not intentionally trying to wreck someone.
And let's not forget he did all of this while he was 150 laps down! If it was for position, then yes, all bets are off that close to the end of the race but he was just trying to wreck a good car, hurt Brad, teach him a lesson, whatever you want to call it.
It was malicious and he should have just drove to the bottom and got out of the leaders way.
1 race is a fair penalty.......not to harsh but just enough to show him the errors of his ways.
Well nothing happened to Edwards.... just a little slap on the wrist.
NASCAR has placed Carl Edwards on probation for the next 3 races. In addition, NASCAR will meeting with Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski at Bristol. No points and no fine for Edwards.
NASCAR meant what they said, let the drivers police themselves and that's fine by me.
At least this is a bit of consistency from NASCAR. But I wonder what price it comes with? On the other hand, I don't think such a big deal would have been made if the 12 hadn't flipped. If Edwards had come along side and put him in the wall instead of turning him from the rear, would much have been said? I doubt it...
Sounds like this part of the "good old days" are back, and I think I'm okay with that...
Right on Gary. Most fans are sick of the " can't we all just get along" mentality. They were whining about it on Good Morning America and Robin said it is racing thats what happens. I have new respect for her. It's also a fact that the car flipping is the only reason so much is being said.
That is because your not an old fart Matt! My friend and I started racing karts in 1960 my father followed NASCAR from the start. I was building a car for the local track but got drafted. Never got back in after that but am still a fan.
Does anybody Rember Taladega when Brad wrecked Carl!!!
To me this was nothing like Talldega, and to think of it no one really made a big deal about a Carl and Brad clash untill Carl spun Brad at Atlanta. You cant compare the Atlanta crash to the Talladega crash because of several factors. As Matt said, at Atlanta Carl was many laps down and he tried several times to crash Brad and he finaly got him. At Talladega it was two drivers fighting for the win with the finish line in sight and not to mention the Yellow line that drivers are by rule made to stay above when passing. Carl went high to block Brad and when Carl came down to block a second time Brad was there, Brad held his ground and Carl spun across his nose, we all seen the replay over and over and over. That wreck was not Brads fault, even Carl said ( I did not know he was there) now im not taking up for Brad or Carl Im just saying Talladega does not have anything to do with the Atlanta wreck, if anything the Media jumped on it to make it bigger then it was and knew everyone would talk about it for days and not to mention the miles they will get out of it in up coming races when these drivers get close to each other on the track.
This is my take: Brad (trying to be one of the big dogs) gave Carl no room to get in front of him between 1 and 2 on a restart at Atlanta and they touched which sent Carl into Joey and the turn 2 wall, Carl lost his temper like he always does and came back out of the garage on a mission and we all know the rest of the story.
Just my 2 cents here. If Carl and Brad are running for position thats fine but now everyone will be coming out of the garage looking for payback. Does it change at Chase time? When one person from the team doesn't make the chase and becomes the designated derby man. Eliminating everyone else in the chase.
A lot of people bad mouth Brad for how he drives, but if you look at many of those people you see some awful wrecks in their first three years when they didn't know any better. Kyle, Carl, Smoke just to name a few. All these top drivers have plenty of talent or they would not be there but this will go to far and someone will die. I believe that is what concerns people like Kyle Petty. Some of these hot heads need some control and what happens when someone goes after a JR or Tony Stewart? I bet NASCAR steps in then especially if the bottom line is at risk.
The real question in all this is what if the tables were reversed and Cousin Carl was spunout in 6th place or whatever Brad was running. You can bet that Jack Rousch and Carl would be having a hissy fit.
An eye for an eye leads to a world that is blind!!
Paul, that's why I like Brad.......he reminds me alot of Kyle Busch or Dale Sr. with his driving style.
It's true, the only reason the garage is putting this spin on it is because alot of them resent the way he drives...but then again, they had the same issues with both of the above drivers when they came up.
Kyle has said it best in the past when he's mentioned that in the past most drivers had to put their dues in the Busch series before coming up....translation = learn how to respect the elder drivers. But that age has passed and I'm sure we will only see more of what we are currently witnessing.
