DEI has a driver for the #15...if NAPA stays AND more on Eury Jr.: If Dale Earnhardt Inc. [DEI] can keep NAPA as a sponsor for a third car next season, an already topsy-turvy "Silly Season" could get even wilder. DEI Director of Motorsports Richie Gilmore said yesterday the team is negotiating with the auto-parts supplier about staying with the #15 being vacated by Michael Waltrip after 2005. Gilmore said DEI already has lined up a driver to team with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. for the 2006 Nextel Cup season. Gilmore wouldn't disclose a name but said it was someone prominent on another race team "that's been on our wish list for some time." "[NAPA] has some options with us, Michael and some other race teams," Gilmore said. "We've put about a two-week window on it where they've got to make the decision and we've got to make a decision and go forward. But we have a driver kind of laid out, and everything laid out." Gilmore also pooh-poohed the idea of reuniting Earnhardt Jr. with Tony Eury Jr. if the #8 Chevrolet were to qualify for the Chase for the Nextel Cup. Earnhardt won a career-high six races last year with Eury as car chief. An offseason shake-up moved Eury to Waltrip's team as crew chief this year. "I would say that scenario would take away from both teams, so we wouldn't even look at that," Gilmore said. "That would affect both teams in a negative [way]." Gilmore said the possibility of naming Eury as Earnhardt's crew chief for next season hadn't been discussed much. "It's still too early," he said. "There's been a lot of talk outside of DEI but not at our company."(Richmond Times Dispatch)(8-5-2005)
So let's see.....who's contract ends this year and isn't signed yet?
Sterling Marlin, Scott Wimmer, Ricky Rudd, Jeff Green? None of those really appeal to me unless they just want someone in the #15 for a couple of years and then bring up a rookie driver, possibly Ryan Moore maybe.
I would like Kenseth in that ride, but I think the timing is bad. Kenseth is signed through 2006. I'm pretty sure he might want to bolt from Roush but I don't think it will be before his contract is up. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see....
Monster team??..LMAO. To become a "monster team" they must first win races. Jury is out until they start racin next year. Jr-16 w's Kennsith-4? w's Menard 0-W's Truex 0-w's. What looks good on paper doesn't always pan out.

Kenseth could very well still be an option..........if Roush can attempt a buyout of Mcmurray's contract, whats to say DEI couldn't do the same for Matt?
Speed Bump, Hendrick and Roush are considered the 'monster teams' right now without question so let's look at them:
Roush - Martin - 34 wins, Kenseth 9 wins, Busch - 11 wins, Biffle - 6 wins, Edwards - 2 wins (hmmm only two guys in double digits and one is retiring this year.
Hendrick - Gordon - 72 wins, Johnson - 16 wins, Vickers & Busch - 0 (half the team hasn't got any!)
So I would say that a June Bug, Truex, and Kenseth with Menard coming in would be a pretty good assembly to bring about something special and powerful!
HEY TOOZ what did I do to get draged into this chat! I go away and and Speed Bump comes up. Why not Speed Pimple or Speed Dent. No need to use my name.
Hey just having a laugh too. I was not bothered LOL. If the 12 ever figures out the race set up there will be a whole lot of people in trouble. The problem is no team work but in Ryans defense Rusty ( who I like also) has never been a team player. No mater what he says on th TV. Just ask Mayfield. Now they are buddies but not when they were team mates.
