New addition to the Cup field

Next week at Chicagoland we will have our first new player join the Cup series field since the off-season. Jeffrey Ouderkirk will leave the series after missing 5 weeks and Ron Blackman will be called up from the Nationwide series to replace him.

Since he's only racing 10 races this year, he will be running for rookie of the year in 2012.

Ron will be driving the #48 Lowe's Chevy.

is it just my warped perception or does it seem like more and more are willingly falling by the wayside?

We've only had one replacement in the Cup series and one in the Nationwide series this year. I don't consider that much of a turn-around.
