For some reason NASCAR doesn't mark their chasers as being officially eliminated from the championship.

But you're right, mathmatically, Mayfield can get nowhere near the top.

technically he isnt mathematically eliminated yet..............everyone assumes its a given that Stewart and Johnson will start both races.......but if something happened where they couldn't they would recieve 0 points, not the bare minimum for coming in last place.

On NASCAR.com's standings they state right there...: All projected scenarios assume a driver will start all remaining races.

Even if Stewart couldn't start the last 2 races, Mayfield could not get past him in the points since he's 407 behind him. The most he could score his 380... so yes he is eliminated.

Just looked at nascar.com and truck and busch standings are up to date with the contenders. 2 racers each, why not just do the dam big boys also?? Guess they dont want to give anybody a complex!! M
