Lou Demian needed a decent week to be able to clinch the 2012 streak to the finish championship and he got exactly that in Texas. Lou was successful in all three races to score a total of 67 points which was also the high score of the week. That puts him 239 points in front of Kevin Sullivan. If Lou didn't gain any points the next two races, the maximum amount of points that Kevin could gain would be 225 if he picked all six of the next race winners.
That gives Lou his 2nd championship in the streak to the finish, his first since the first season back in 2007. Right now Lou has the greatest margin of victory but he'll still need to score 145 more points to be able to pass Stephen DiCaprio for most points scored in a season. Stephen did that with his 2010 championship.
The championship guarantees that Lou will once again be making the LROC team next year which will be his 7th appearance.
Kevin Sullivan finished with 66 points this week, the 2nd highest score. He was also able to take back 2nd place from Jessy Turgeon. He'll be looking to finish in the runner-up spot.
Natalie Jones had the third highest score of 61 points. She was also able to make a move in the standings by climbing up one spot to 8th.
So the championship has been settled but there are still a couple of things to play for in the next two races. Next up is Phoenix.
