This year, the rookie of the year points will be expanded upon. Last year we only used one of the criteria that NASCAR uses, points for finishing in the top 10.
This year, we will use 4 different methods.
1. A 10 point system for the rookies each race in relation to where they finish to each other. Highest finishing rookie will receive 10 points, next highest, 9, etc.
2. The 10 points system for finishing in the top 10 that we used last year.
3. This year we will use 3 segments. Points will be rewarded after race #10, #20 and #36. The rookie that got the most points in the segment will get 10 points, next highest 9 points, etc.
4. After the final race of the year, the rookie highest in the standings will get 10 points, next highest 9, etc.
It should make for a more exciting watch for rookie of the year. So far we have 3 rookies, but expect at least 2 more.
