Well, the Cup streak curse is still alive and well. Once again we had someone trying to break that 8 week streak that has been with us since the start of the game back in 2007 and once again came up short. Ed Blackman tied the streak last week and went with Jeff Gordon or bust this week. Unfortunately for him it was bust. Gordon came close but finished in 12th place. That ended the hope for Ed and cost him some valuable points too. He could have taken over the points lead but instead fell a spot to 3rd place.
We do have a new points leader this week though. Lou Demian stretched his Nationwide streak to 9 weeks after picking Kyle Larson. That ties him with Greg Eichele for the largest streak this year. Along with a 3 week Truck streak and 1 week Cup streak he gained a total of 78 points. That puts the defending champion back on top of the standings.
Randy Cook had the 2nd highest points for the week with 71. He chose Hamlin, Smith and Sauter to give himself a 1, 6 and 5 week streak. He also gained one spot in the standings to move to 6th place.
Ray Perrotta and Dean Higley were tied with the 3rd highest points total with 69 points. Ray climbed one spot in the standings while Dean climbed 2. Ray is the next player that will have a shot of breaking that Cup streak but he still needs to go another 3 weeks just to tie.
