Well it was all but inevitable and everyone could see this coming for quite some time, but after week 35 at Martinsville, Lou Demian officially clinches the 2013 streak to the finish championship. Lou saw his 6 week Cup streak end after picking Kyle Busch but managed to stretch is Truck streak and gain some extra points. With a 388 point lead, there is now way that Randy can overtake him which gives Lou the championship. This is the 2nd in a row and 3rd all time. He also won in 2007 as well.
This will add some more hardware to his driver page although he's hoping for that Cup series championship trophy as well. One thing is for sure, regardless if he wins the Cup championship or not, Lou will make the LROC team yet again next year thanks to this championship.
Both Lou and Ron Blackman had a 6 week Cup streak going into Martinsville but both had it end. That guarantees that the 8 week streak will not be broken this year. Stephen DiCaprio currently has a 5 week cup streak going but with 3 races to go, he can only tie the record.
We did see a season record tied this week as Dean Higley stretched his Truck streak to 8 weeks. That tied with Randy Cook and he'll have a shot to break it next week at Texas. Dean had the highest score of the week with 60 points. He also gained a spot in the standings to move to 7th place.
Stephen DiCaprio took 2nd with 45 points thanks to increasing his Cup streak to 5 weeks and starting a new Truck streak.
Terry Howell finished with 30 points for 3rd place.
So the championship has already been decided, and Randy Cook should hold on to 2nd place with a 133 point lead. The real fight looks like it will be for the final podium finish of 3rd place that Troy Wiggins currently holds.
