It was bound to happen sooner or later but that 8 week Cup streak could never be broken through 8 seasons. Finally, it has happened though... the 8 week barrier has been broken and it's Ray Perrotta who was able to do it. He did it on one of the hardest tracks too, Talladega. Ray picked Denny Hamlin who just barely finished in the top 10 in 9th place but it was enough to stretch his streak to 9 weeks. So congrats to Ray for getting it done! He now has the Cup series streak record all to himself.
Unfortunately Ray did see his Xfinity streak come to an end so he didn't get the high score for the week, still finished with a respectable 47 points and holds on to the top spot by 13 points over Troy Wiggins. Troy also scored 47 points this week as well. They were both tied for the 2nd highest score.
The high score of the week went to Stephen DiCaprio who scored 67 points. He went with Cup series race winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Regan Smith. He moved up 2 spots in the top 5 to 3rd place.
So now Ray will try to stretch his Cup streak another week at Kansas and see if he can reach 10 weeks, making it even harder to catch him.
