The drivers are so much more accessible than any of the other major athletes. Case in point, these message posts were taken from another forum:

Just thought I would share something cool with you guys. My latest autograph goal is to get autographs of all the living Daytona 500 and Indy 500 Winners. I created cool little custom cards and sent them out the other day, well I got 2 back. Fred Lorenzen D500 winner 1965 and Junior Johnson.

The cool thing was that Fred lives on the east Side of Chicago and sent me his phone number and a little note saying anytime I would like to come and see his trophy room to give him a call. This I may have to do sometime soon - how cool would it be to hold the D500 trophy from 1965.

Sent Jimmie Johnson a Sp to get signed, since I work for lowes wrote a nice little letter with the LOWES letterhead saying congrats on his win at Daytona. (also included a 20.00 check to the Jimmie Johnson foundation ) I asked him if he could inscribed "2006 Dayton 500 winner", well my check was cashed last week and I get this in the mail today
