Braves-Mets part 2

So far the Braves look strong to open the season- 5 games behind already.

Yeah I was gonna post something last night to that effect, but the board wouldn't let me... too bad.

I just wanted to thank the Braves for helping make baseball history. Allowing the Mets to become the first team to open up a 5 game lead on a team this early in the season.

Plus Pedro gets his 200th career win, doing it against the Braves.

So from a fan of the 10-2, first place Mets.... thank you, Braves!

My calendar says its April

I say we call off the season now and just hand the trophy to the Mets. Schedule the parade for early June in downtown Manhattan, which might be a problem for New Yorkers. They are so used to seeing the Yankees year after year we might have to get them a score card.

It's way too early. We got playoff hockey this weekend, we might have a Devils vs. Rangers first round series or a Devils vs. Philly. Fantastic first round action!

Let's talk baseball after they hoist up Lord Stanley Cup

RE: Braves-Mets part 2

Well, just finished watching the Rangers lose their 5th game in a row as the head into the playoffs. Unfortunately they did not win the Atlantic Division, but I'm just happy they are finally back in the playoffs. Not happy about their play over the last 5 games, but to look at the overall season, great year for them.

The good thing is that as long as the Devils lose tonight, the Rangers will face Buffalo in the first round. Buffalo is a great team, but I feel a little better having the Rangers face them instead of NJ or Philly.

Playoffs start this weekend!

Lou, you make me chuckle.  Everyone who even follows baseball even minutely, knows Braves start slow every year (which I have stated a few times).

Finally! all the offseason spending has paid off!!!! you have the record for quickest route to a five game lead.......................oh, too bad, you only get a division crown for having a lead at the END OF THE SEASON.

P.martinez is a bust.........it took him this long to get to 200? Braves got rid of Maddux a few years back and he is already at 320.

Mets didnt look that impressive tonight, just ask A. Jones (2 HR), and dont give me the starters not playing routine because we were without two ourselves.

Mets = NY's version of the Cubs

Crap... The Devils came back and won against Montreal, they take the division and the Rangers slip back to 6th place. Oh well... The Rangers have beat the Devils the last two times they met, they can do it again.

And regarding Martinez?  Only 7 pitchers have gotten to 200 wins.... so all those other pitchers are crap then??

Yeah, Mets lost tonight but they are still in the lead and I'm sure will be there for awhile.

And offseason spending... Braves are only 10 million behind the Mets in payroll. Mets are 6th highest, Atlanta 9th highest.... So in terms of dollars, they really aren't all the far between the two teams.

At least we are talking about the Mets' success DURING the regular season.  I recall a few posting how great the Braves were during the preseason.

playoffs

5 in a frigging row to enter the playoffs! Should be a fantastic series as the Devils haven't beaten the Rangers in the playoffs yet. Being a Ranger fan, I really respect Lou Lamorielo, he really is a top notch coach/gm.
