Richard Childress was in Africa on a hunting trip last week when Kevin Harvick gave Richard Childress Racing a sweep of the weekend races at Phoenix.
It marked the team's first victory in 38 Cup events.
Childress, a veteran hunter, considered the trip to Botswana a success after he bagged a cape buffalo and an elephant.
It wasn't all fun and games, though.
A one-eyed buffalo, "half eaten by a lion," came out of the brush and charged him. Childress said he didn't have enough time to raise his gun all the way up, shooting the buffalo in the chest.
"If it had had two eyes, it would have got me," he said, grinning.
After such a great weekend, Harvick said jokingly that Childress should stay away.
Childress said his flight into Atlanta was met by several races fans, who told him the same thing. They suggested he "couldn't come back into the country until my race team starting losing."
I just thought the one-eyed Buffalo charging him was funny as hell.
