Teammates play catch with Giles
Tiny infielder used for warm-up drill between innings

Andruw Jones and Chipper Jones were just trying to warm up between innings. But in the view of Marcus Giles, the Atlanta Braves players crossed the line.

"They were throwing me around like a rag doll," said the 27-year-old second baseman. "Sure, I'm about the size of a rag doll, but that's not the point. I have my dignity!"

Despite Giles' constant complaining about the incident, Braves manager Bobby Cox has yet to take any disciplinary action.

"It was all just a misunderstanding," Cox said. "They couldn't find a ball to toss around between the fifth and sixth innings, and Marcus was standing right there."

Not only does Jones deny any wrongdoing, he believes the pint-sized Giles is being extremely selfish.

"He wasn't even in the starting lineup," the centerfielder said. "Would he rather I play the inning cold and risk throwing out my arm? For such a little guy, he’'s got a pretty big chip on his shoulder."

This marks the third time Giles has been used in a questionable manner by members of the Braves organization. Previously, teammate Brian Jordan swung him like a bat at the start of spring training. And the following week the locker room attendant used Giles to mop the floor.
