Being a big NASCAR fan, Tony, JG, JJ and Dale Jr would be a big loss. Even if you don't like someone, it could really effect the sport. THe Hendrick tragedy was really bad and effected a lot of people. When Earnhardt died in Daytona, it crippled the sport, made everyone closer, and it took his death for NASCAR to really start implementing safety.
The second sport: Football. I am a pretty big football fan.. and I say losing someone like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady would be a huge loss. What about Terrel Owens? He's always in the news.
Baseball... I am not sure. I guess it really depends on who is your favorite team. The big namers like Albert Pujols, Jim Thome, Derek Jeter, Johnny Damon.... but personally a huge loss for me would be anyone in the Braves organization. Chipper, Andruw and the rookie Francouer... all would be a huge tragic loss.
Hopefully this remains a ponder and nothing ever happens to any of them.
Well better hope Dale Jr. never dies tragically in a race, because on a personal note, I couldn't handle watching and being involved in NASCAR anymore like I am now. Most likely I would try to finish the year off it was late enough in the season, but I think I would shut the league down after that.
Luckily, ever since Dale Earnhardt's death, NASCAR really improved the safety standards and no driver has ever been killed in NASCAR's top 3 divisons since. Too bad it had to come to that for it to happen though.
Lou, I think you'd find a way to continue. I think thats what the E family would want. Your a solid guy and I personally would hope and pray you'd carry on. Your a good guy and I think the masses would "need" someone like yourself to keep "tradition" alive. I would follow you on this one.

not even a Gordon or Dale Jr. are up to Dale Sr.'s iconic status and thats what it would take to impact the country.
with respects to Jeter, Kobe, Shaq, Gretzty (sp?), and the drivers, I think it would have to come from the biggest sport..........NFL.
I also thought of Peyton Manning. Tiger would have a similar effect also. Generally a newsmaker and headline grabber will only be on the front page for a day..................Nice guys who lead their sport would make the front pages and top stories of the night for weeks.
I think everyone knows who he is and knows of his father, It would be thought of as ironically tragic and since it would happen twice to the earnhardts, it would suck that much more.
Hopefully no one in Nascar will ever die again, but with tony stewart at the helm, we never know.......................I beleive it was daytona when he said someone would be killed with all those guys driving lke idiots in the busch race....then in the nextel cup race he wrecks kenseth and says he was ion the way.........HMMM
