Da Braves Part 4

Well once again the fans of the Atlanta Braves are crushed. After their sudden spot of hotness, back to mediocrity.

I know some of you were hoping they would sweep the Mets and be 9 games behind them but the Mets made a statement this weekend.

It was just another series for the Mets, but much more for the Atlanta Braves. I think that was the final nail in the coffin that is the Braves season this year.

Matt's still in his dreamland thinking they will overtake them by the end of the season. 15 games behind the hot Mets??   don't think so... time to concede.

Hell, just 6.5 games behing the wildcard with 9 teams ahead of them, they won't even make the playoffs at all this year.

All good things come to an end.

I was waiting on this post actually.

and no, I haven't given up.......those '9' teams have to play each other quite a bit so that's not an issue.

but yes, I still see the division crown coming.........why? because the Braves themselves haven't given up......they all still talk about the playoff race in every interview, they all don't want to be the team that let it end. And last time I checked, NO Braves players are being shopped around. The Betemit story was just that, a story.

I really think that you're trying to tell yourself we are done so you can rest easy, when deep down, you know what Atlanta is capable of.

What are they capable of??  They are 8 games under .500 for crying out loud!!! Even the sucky Phillies are outplaying them.

They have only had one brief spurt of looking somewhat good during the year while the Mets have been consistant and have held the best NL record all year too.

If by some miracle the Braves manage to get themselves in contention for the wildcard I will be impressed. However, so far they are nowhere near that mark yet.

LOL, I still can't believe that you think the Braves are getting by the Mets this year. You'll face to face it sooner or later, the Mets have the NL East crown nearly locked up this year. They will be the first team in the league  to lock themselves into a playoff spot come September.

Oh yes, time will tell indeed. Until October, us Mets fans are sitting very comfy high above the NL east. Meanwhile the Braves fans are sweating it out every day, hoping for a miracle.

I just had a ball re-reading the Mets bashing posts that you and Speedy were making last year. What a difference a year makes, ehh?

Ahhh... life is good this year.

Not true: Braves were shopping around their best player but no takers yet.

The Braves are shopping Andruw Jones around, hoping to land young pitching in return for the eight-time Gold Glove center fielder. Atlanta asked the White Sox for right-hander Brandon McCarthy but were rejected. They are still in talks with the Red Sox for a package that may include left-hander Jon Lester, who is 5-1 with a 3.49 ERA during his rookie season.

Looks like the Braves are already trying to begin the rebuilding process.

sorry you're confused.........Kenny Williams has been dying to get ahold of Andruw this year and last........but the Braves gave them the price and Kenny couldn't do it.

and as for Boston it was going to be 3 pitchers and Coco Crisp which they offered to the Braves............Atlanta isn't dumb, they know he is a quality player and won't take just anyone for him.

At the same time, Braves salary is mostly locked up in 3-4 players, so it would make sense to get rid of A. Jones before they can't anymore since he has the highest salary on the team.  That's just good team management, but of course, N.Y. knows nothing of that.

Yo Toozie, Lou's ah...,...well....Gulp....right. Whew, that hurt. The Beloved Bravos are toast. They have no pitching, or at least what we've come to expect. Corporate (Gala) America decided the Braves are just a tax write-off. Sucks for Atlantan's and Braves fans across the country but thats the way it is. Just not enough bullets in the chamber my friend. Kudos to the Mets for their resurgents and I for one will root for them through the play-offs. Their the best bet for the NL to bring the crown back to our league.                                                  Being a Monstrous Tarheel fan I root for any ACC teams in the tourney as well. Keep it close to home, if ya feel me. *uck the AL and their wussy DH rule!    Go Braves!!
