Alright, enough with the President's picks issue. He changed his picks. True. He also said he did it before qualifying. Debatable. He changed from David Stremme to Kyle Petty. Not a step up. He refused to penalize himself, saying that his picks were sent in on time, but just not posted to the forum until he got home from work. True. We sent the issue to the council and they ruled no penalty. True. Lou has agreed, upon the recommendation of the council, to submit his picks to a council member weekly for verification of time and selections. True. If people have legitimate concerns that they feel are still lingering from this issue, please either email them to Lou, Shawn or one of the council members. If you want my opinion on an issue feel free to email me. wriney@carolina.rr.com
My opinion, which if you didn't want to hear, you shouldn't have a forum on your site, is that Lou should give himself last weeks drivers, but taken full credit for them rather than 1/2 credit. But since both he and the council felt that there was not a penalty deserved for this, this issue is closed. There are no further actions that can be taken on this other than coming up with ideas to help the league run smoother. Feel free to contact me with any comments or contact Lou, Shawn or the council
I know it is like beating a dead animal with a stick, but mine and Will's names have come up a few times during this week, and I don't want people to think I don't have an opinion just because my league is alligned with Lou's. I love the allignment, and hope it continues long into the future.
I do have an opinion on this issue, and I appologize to you Lou for posting this here. Shawn emailed me for my opinion on this subject, and I felt it fair that I let everyone know how I feel. I will post the email here for everyone to view.
"Shawn,
Honestly, and I have talked with Will Riney about it, I would have penalized myself. I did that in my league once when I posted the picks late due to a problem with my internet. I think it is only fair to penalize myself if I can not meet my own expectations.
As for being your replacement, I wouldn't count on that. Although I am sure Lou would love me to go over there and join him, I wouldn't be able to due to time constraints with my own site, school and when I head home for the summer, work.
Will and I have put together one of the best all around leagues I believe. We follow the rules by the book, and when a situation occurs when only a few players will be unhappy, we go the way they will like. If it makes even one person in the league feel better, we contemplate it, and usually put it into place.
Lou and I have been good buddies online for about 2 years now. He has helped me grow as a site builder, and I have helped him grow with ideas for his league. While I agree with him on most things, I definatley think he should have taken the penalty. I personally am in the money pit, and am a little disgruntled that he is still ahead of me in points."
A race is a race guys. I think we will all overcome this problem, get it figured out and have a strong 2007 season. Every league has it's problems, and this is the 2006 version for Lucky Dog Racing.
Good Luck Racing! Soon you will all be looking at the Captain Morgan Chevy's rear bumper, just like last season!
I just got an email telling me I copped out. That is completely wrong and I am sure Lou will agree with me on that. He has already told me to stop harrassing him on this issue.
My position is still the same as it was Friday. I think Lou should have penalized himself. I also think the council should have agreed to penalize Lou. Neither happened. Neither will happen. Both Lou and the council have made that clear. Why keep this going when nothing is going to change?
How is seeing that this issue is not going any further copping out?
There was 1 vote to penalize by myself, I do want that to be known.
This is a dead issue, but with the emails and the posts, the league has sent a clear message that all parties should abide by the same rules and if there is an issue, it can be brought up for vote and members will not sit by and be quiet....
That email did not come from JJR. I am sure that person will find their way onto here sooner or later.
I agree with JJR whole-heartedly that the rules need to be followed by all.
Furthermore, I think it would be a good idea to have a council member that is voted on by the players in the league. That way there would be someone on the council that is not just selected by the President.
I applaude JJR for standing up for fair-play even though he was clearly outnumbered.
Well if we really wanted to play it by the rules....
I originally had a set of picks for myself that I did mid week, like I do most times. A lot of times I will change them because I change my mine a couple of times. Heck, a couple members send me three or four sets of picks a week.... which starts to get annoying, but that's besides the point.
As I stated if a member submits a set of picks during the week and then resubmits their picks a 2nd time and they go over the limit.... the 1st set of picks will be used instead and no penalty assessed.
Now with that first set of picks I probably would have done even better since I had Harvick and Stewart in my picks. However, I wasn't going to resort to that because obviously there would be nobody to prove it to other than myself. If it was any other member, there would be no problem. So in fact I pretty much hurt myself in the long run.
The way the rules were set up there is no way to prove myself and it makes me look like a cheat, which I definately am not. I know for a fact that I had a correct set of picks on time even if it did not show up in time on the forum. As I said things came up at work that I had to take care of and I did not think to repost my picks before I left work, only when I was driving home from work. Unfortunately there is nobody other than myself able to prove it. If I was a cheat I would have won 2 championships and definately more than only 3 wins by now. I have faithfully posted my picks every week in the forum with no problem. Sure there were times that it was difficult to get on right before the deadline, however I usually found a way. There was never an issue until this past weekend.
There are people out there that may think otherwise and they have a right to their opinion, I know that. Some people, even though they won't admit it, want me to have every handicap in the world because they simply just want to do better than me. That's fine too, that's what rivalary is.
So I do believe with me submitting my picks each week to another person will be the best way to prove that I am doing it honestly which I have done all along, ever since this league was first created. It will also protect myself if something like this ever comes up again. In fact, I just sent a set of early picks to Matt today.
And that's the last that I'm going to talk about this issue.
The initial members were voted on by the league members. Only the 2 additional members were voted on by the council.
Oh and Greg....
As much as I would like to have you as a Vice President, it's not a matter of you not having as much time. It's the fact that you run your own popular league which works closely with Lucky Dog Racing and is in competition in the LROC league as well.
You have your own rules and regulations.... having you as a Vice President would cause too much confliction between the two sites. That's also why the council opposed to having you serve on it as well. It's nothing personal, just professional.
I know, and I said nothing about it being personal.. I actually said that it was because of the same stuff you just said. I wouldn't want to be your VP due to the time constraints, and I know you see that too..
Some people, even though they won't admit it, want me to have every handicap in the world because they simply just want to do better than me. >>>>>
Well I guess I am in the clear on this one, because with 7 career wins and 1 Cup Championship to Lous 2 wins and Zero titles clearly I dont need Lou to be handicapped. This must be a shot a someone else. Speedy?
