although animated (LOL), we have received another response regarding this issue.
I am now asking any team that reads this thread to just voice their opinion on whether or not this is an issue for the offseason or something that needs to be dealt with now.
Please be sure to be signed in though, any responses not belonging to a LuckyDog team will be ignored. Any team from either series can voice their opinion.
I also voted to wait until next year. One question I have is why all peoposels for rule changes are brought up on the forum. this is not the place. If a person has an issue they should submit it in writing to a councle member. All this usless and unproductive crap here serves no purpose except turn people off to the forum. Also I personal am sick of peoples remarks about Lou having the councel in his pocket. I have never met Lou, or any other member. If Lou walked in my front door he most likley be shot for breaking in. One more thing. All information on speeds ans such are on the net for anyone that casres to use it. If a person wants to wait it is there choice. I make my picks on Wed. My choice. So I guess I think all picks should be in on Wed. But why should Helton be forced to pick Wed. because I like it. Makes no sense to me. Oh and Speedy don't let these guys light that short fuse of yours.
When NASCAR sees that a rule change needs to be made in order to level the playing field for all competitors, they make it, no matter what point in the season (or the weekend) they are. This issue has just come up in the last few weeks. Since more than 1 team is requesting this, I think that the council should revisit this item with that in mind. Change for Change's sake is not always great, but change for a purpose is.
Yatesfan, sounds like you are the one whining. Looks to me like Greg is kicking your ass this year. In fact, it looks like he is only 15 points out of the lead. I don't think he needs to change anything about his luck, judgement ot strategy. He was merely pointing out a loop hole that needed to be closed in order to make Lucky Dog a little more fair for people who don't sit at a computer all day and can't change their picks as each practice session ends.
Ok, I propose that we let the rules stay as the are till the end of the season. In the off season we vote for council seats, in and remain or nominate new, and put ALL leage rules to a league wide vote and propose new ones. ESPN you can change picks up to greenflag, Yahoo picks had to be in last night. Yahoo though you pick 8 dr in 3 gps but only run 4 so in the case of a road course Q's rainout you can pick a ringer if he gets in or fall back on a guy that you know will get in but wont finish as good and still get pts. So in LDR's case if you pick a ringer and he DNQ's, tuff ****, even though he had the best practice times. Make the deadline befor practice, but do it next year, why do it now, and if this is such a big issue why was it not brought up 10 races ago, so the change could have been implemented for the chase. and beleive me i am not whining or crying, if iwas i would post on this board alot more often than i do, instead of just browsing.
Now, everyone, this is just my opinion only here, but if this issue of when picks should be in is such a big issue, why was it not brought up in the last offseason, and not at the last five races of the season?
We have 5 races to go. Lets settle this in the off season. Would nascar ever change "the chase" points system half way thru the chase?
Please tell me how this would be considered changing the points system? It might take 5 points away from 'some' people each week due to no pole award. But it has absolutley nothing to do with the points system.
I did not mean it would change the points system, I just pointed out that nascar would not change anything like that with 5 races to go. I was using it as an example only. I agree with the council in waiting till off season.
I do agree that all picks should be in before practice starts. But, I agree that it should be voted on by the coucil and done so in the off season. I would feel the same way even if i was in the chase.
Starting next season lets watch all the practice speeds, watch the qualifying and make the picks deadline 1 hour before the start of each race. Based on all that information we could set our teams and still no one would have an advantage over anyone else as to the outcome of the race. Come on people we have to abide by a salary cap so the chances of creating a lineup using the top 5 drivers who qualify the best is about zero. Even if we could create a lineup using the top 5 drivers that doesnt mean you will win the race. Theres to many variables in a nascar race that determine who will come out on top and who wont. Theres been quite a few races where you could have a lineup of 5 bad drivers and end up on top! SEASONS ALMOST OVER, LETS TRY TO HAVE SOME FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All I can say is that I'm really getting sick and tired of "certain" people say that I keep the rules the way they are because I want to benefit only myself. A couple people that I thought were friends or alliances suddely snap on me, and for what reason??
The picks deadline has been the same that it has been for 3 years now. This is not something new. Ironic that 2 people that won the championship the past 2 years were the ones most vocal about it. How come all of a sudden, we have to change it with 5 races left in the year? This has been the same set of rules all along. It was decided by me from when I first created the league that I wanted to give people the maximum time before qualifying to get their picks in.... Not that I wanted to look at practice speeds.
Yes, I think this is an issue that does need to be addressed, but it can wait until the offseason like the entire council agrees. I feel very angry that a person that I thought was a friend now accuses me of things... implies that I am cheating and says that I should not listen to the council. Maybe he should have applied to the council seat when it was available.

Damn John.... guess I won't be coming to visit you! lol
Oh and by the way.... next week we will be having an early picks deadline. Only because I am going away for the weekend and want to get the picks up before I leave.
I have very rarely posted, and am only doing so since Tooz asked for opinions from either league. I also, am against changing rules midstream, whether they pertain to actual scoring or deadlines for lineups. The rules were in place and should be followed as they were set. Visit the issue in the offseason.
