With all this rain coming along the east coast...

Do you think maybe there's a chance we'll see rain tires being used for the first time in a Nascar road course event?

I didn't realize that rain tires were an option for a Nascar Road race.

After a quick look at three different weather websites it looks like qualifying may be rained out tomorrow with more than 1 inch of rain possible for Friday at Watkins Glen and 80% chance of precipitation.  Currently Sunday looks OK with the heavy rain staying east of the racetrack, 20% chance of precipitation , partly cloudy and temp in low to mid 70s.  Let's all hope the storm track stays to the east of Watkins Glen since if it shifts slightly west it could mean rain for the Sunday Race.

Went to Ithaca yesterday for their annual race day leading up to Sunday's race at the glen.  Saw the showcars for Greg Biffle, Brendan Gaughan, and Robby Gordon.  There is another nascar show in Corning tonite, it's raining now so I don't think I will be going but may get to the Glen on Friday for their Thunder in the Glen Car Show in downtown Watkins Glen. I am hoping for good weather for the race Sunday.

Yes, they are an option but to date they haven't been used yet.
